Getting a Head Start on Spring Cleaning

Spring is just around the corner, which means it’s the perfect time to get a head start on your Spring cleaning! There’s nothing quite like heading into a new season feeling a little lighter, more organized and totally refreshed.

Although there are many benefits to Spring cleaning, there’s no denying it can be a daunting task. So we’ve put together some tips to help make the process more enjoyable!

Clear Your Schedule

Set aside a full day (or two) to get the job done! It’s a big job that deserves your undivided attention, if you want to get it done effectively and efficiently. So, don’t make any other plans and try to rid yourself of any possible distractions. If you can’t set aside an entire day, try to at least tackle one room at a time.

Make a List

When you think about everything you need to clean and organize, it can be overwhelming. So before you even get started, jot your to-do list down so that you can clear your mind and begin to feel lighter right away! If a dreaded to-do list stresses you out, prepare it the night before your scheduled cleaning session, while sipping on a glass of wine, or the morning of, while enjoying a cup of coffee or your favourite snack – whatever will make the process more enjoyable for you! Not only is it helpful to have a list to follow, it will feel rewarding as you work your way through it and cross things off as you go.

Start Small

Be sure to divide your list into specific areas of the house so that you can focus on each individual space before moving onto the next. Setting (and sticking to) time limits for when each task or room should be completed will help ensure you use your time wisely so you don’t get stuck in any one area for too long. By breaking up your Spring cleaning into smaller, more manageable parts, you’ll be able to work your way through your to-do list and cross tasks off quicker – which feels SO GOOD!

Listen to Music

Music makes everything better! Put on your favourite, upbeat playlist to help boost your mood and keep your energy level high. Sing along, dance like nobody's watching, do whatever you’ve got to do to power through your Spring cleaning.

Toss What You Don’t Need

Before you start to clean and organize everything you own, remove anything that no longer serves a purpose. The easiest way to free up space in your home is to donate, recycle or throw out unwanted items. Once your space is decluttered, you can focus on cleaning and organizing what’s left!

Put Winter Away

Some things don’t need to be tossed, they just need to be put away when the seasons change. Winter gear, accessories and decor should be swapped out for lighter linens, a Spring wardrobe, etc. But just as you’re organizing your home, it’s important to organize your storage too, so your winter must-haves are easy to find when you need them again.

Reward Yourself

As if a clean, organized home isn’t rewarding enough! You totally deserve something special for all the hard work you put into Spring cleaning. Plan your reward in advance so you have something to look forward to! Order in dinner (you didn’t spend all day cleaning just to mess up your kitchen with a home cooked meal, did you?!), enjoy a hot bubble bath in your freshly scrubbed tub, or treat yourself to that new outfit you’ve been eyeing – you should have some extra space in your closet now! Better yet, order the Spring Balanced Home Box so that you have the perfect new, luxury décor to put on display in your tidy home.

We hope these tips come in handy as you start thinking about Spring cleaning!
