Heart Healthy Exercises

It’s important to stay physically active if you want to keep your heart healthy. Exercising is one of the best ways to strengthen your heart  – even a 30-minute walk can make a huge difference! If you’re looking to improve your heart health, then give these exercises a try.

Walking

Get those steps in and go for a walk. Walking is a great way to strengthen your heart, and speed walking is even better!  Not only will it get your heart rate up, but it’s way easier on your joints than other types of exercise. All you need is a pair of supportive shoes and a good playlist or a walking buddy to keep you motivated. It’s literally the easiest exercise to do anywhere, anytime.

Strength training

Working out with weights or resistance bands are great heart healthy exercises that also build muscle mass and burn fat. If you don’t have equipment available, you can use your own body weight to do push-ups, squats and chin-ups, which can help improve bone and heart health as well.

Yoga

Practicing yoga is another way to help boost your heart health, strengthen and tone your muscles, and increase your flexibility. Certain types of yoga can really get your heart rate up, while still providing the calm that will lower your blood pressure.

Cycling

Whether you’re riding solo or in a group setting, cycling is a fun heart healthy exercise that you can enjoy indoors with a stationary bike or outdoors on the road or on a trail! Whichever way you decide to do it, cycling will help elevate your heart rate and improve your mental health too!

Regardless of which exercise you choose to incorporate into your daily routine, regular physical activity is essential to taking care of your heart. So get started now! We’re sure you’ll be thanking us later.
