Halloween-Themed Family Activities

Spooky season is quickly approaching and before you know it, it’s already Halloween! As much as candy, chocolate and dressing up can be fun and exciting, there are plenty of ways to appreciate the Halloween season together as a family!

Here are some Halloween-themed family activities you all can enjoy before the night of trick-or-treating.

Halloween Baking

Trick-or-treat? We definitely say treat! Bake your favourite cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and other delicious bites with your family but do it with a Halloween twist! Decorate these desserts and turn them into vampire cupcakes, bat cookies, monster donuts, chocolate-dipped ghost pretzels, a haunted gingerbread house or even a coffin cake. There are so many easy and creative Halloween desserts that you can make!

Halloween Movie Night

It’s time for a movie fright night! Gather your family around your entertainment room, dim the lights, and watch a bunch of scary(ish) Halloween movies! You can’t go wrong with some of these movie classics like Hocus Pocus, Casper, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters the Halloweentown movies and many more! So, grab your popcorn, your coziest blanket and set the Halloween mood with a family Halloween movie night.

Haunted Houses

Enter if you dare! If you and your family are looking for a good scare, then beware and visit your local “haunted” house. It can be a great family outing to go somewhere new and get spooked. If your kids are a bit younger, then why not bring the haunted house to your own home? Grab your scariest Halloween props and decorations to create your haunted house at home. There's also the option to create a fall fun house by displaying pumpkins, scarecrows and other fall-themed decorations, if a haunted house is too scary for your kids.

Halloween Party

You can’t go wrong with hosting a Halloween party at home with your family. Play silly Halloween-themed games like ghost bowling or pin the spider on the web, or play more traditional games and activities like Halloween Bingo or painting pumpkins. Dance along to the “Monster Mash” or the Ghostbusters theme song and don’t forget to munch on those sweet Halloween desserts that you baked! As for costumes? They should be mandatory! Because let's be honest, they're the best part about Halloween parties.

We’re still a couple weeks away from Halloween night, so there’s still plenty of time to do these Halloween-themed family activities! And when you do, be sure to share with us on social media by tagging @thebalancedcompanyinc in your posts so we can see the spooktacular time you're having!
